The weather is starting to warm up and that means it’s almost time to tee off. From smart golf caps to weatherproof outerwear, we can help you look great on the green.
Headgear
Whether you go with the classic golf cap (or flat cap) with a plaid design or a basic visor, you will need something to shield your eyes from the sun as you squint into the distance and lob that ball as far as the eye can see. Though, baseball hats have now encroached on golf courses, my personal preference is for the flat cap, which has English and Scottish roots and looks smart off the course, as well as on it.
Shirts
Indulge your inner prep with a popped-up collar and a polo shirt (preferably by the king of polo shirts, Ralph Lauren). Feel like changing things up a bit? Throw on a mock turtleneck long sleeve shirt. Or, aim for something between traditional and creative—short sleeve, collared shirts, with bold graphics and colors, like stripes and duotones. (I’ve even seen something that resembles a tie-dye fade on a golf shirt. Scandalous!)
Shorts and Pants
I’m not going to lie, golf pants, are not, and will never be, cool pants. They are basically Suburban Dad pants. But there’s a way to fight against Suburban Dad pants. Don’t get pleats. Get a trim, flat front for both the shorts and the pants. You will look, not exactly edgy, but infinitely less dorky.
All-Weather Gear
The weather can be a real jerk sometimes. It doesn’t care if you have plans for it to be sunny and perfect with no wind. Now and then, the weather shows up and does whatever it wants. You, golfing man, must come prepared with an outer layer that protects you from the wind and the cold and the wetness. There’s an entire golf wardrobe of jackets and zip-ups there for you to keep you dry and warm without hampering your movement and you can show the rest of the competitors (and the weather) who’s boss.
This spring, even if your game needs some work, you can achieve a fashion hole-in-one.
